Before Describing Taylor Lautner’s Workout, Here is a Quick Bio
Taylor Lautner was born on February 12, 1992. He was 17 at the time Twilight New Moon was filmed. From the age of 6 to 13 was accomplished in martial arts. When he was 12, he had a black belt and was declared the winner of the Junior World Championships. Lautner began his acting career in 2001, and by 2008 played Jacob Black the Native American character in Twilight.
The Director thought about having someone else play Jacob Black in the new movie, New Moon.
The Director of New Moon, Catherine Hardwicke, considered casting someone else to replace Taylor Lautner. The aim was to find a person who was more realistic and muscular to play Black. This is because Jacob becomes a werewolf in New Moon, and the director wanted an actor that looked physically stronger than Taylor Lautner.
Taylor had to put on a lot of muscle to keep from losing his role in the new movie.
But since Taylor has a background in martial arts, it was easier for him to put on the muscle. If this was just a 17 year-old with a less athletic background, there is no way he would have been able to display the same degree of muscle tone in such a short period of time.
Jacob Black Workout Routine Secrets
Taylor didn’t just get his ripped abs because he trained for the 9 months prior to when they started shoot New Moon. Because he maintained an athletic lifestyle when he was younger, his natural muscle maturity and density was already that of an average twenty year old. Individuals who train in martial arts get their power by tightening up their core. As time passes, this core becomes even tighter, more solid, and defines the existing muscles. Most people would have to lower their body fat to a low percentage by dieting, but Taylor got his because of his background and experience with the martial arts.
The Gaining Muscle Part for Taylor Was Easy
Because of his youth, Lautner could quickly gain twenty pounds. Fitness magazines keep it a secret, but you can get mass very quickly when you are first starting to workout. The amount of muscle Taylor put on his body was the natural amount of muscle he was suppose to have. Taylor is not huge at all, and this is a good thing. Like just about any young guy I’ve worked with, Taylor was able to quickly fill in and get close to his genetic potential quickly. Because his life consists of little more than acting, he could dedicate every moment of nine months towards this. Usually, this process will take a year or two.
What he says in his interviews about how he put on the muscle for New Moon.
If you have watched any of Taylor’s interviews, you might have noticed he doesn’t say much about his workouts. Instead, he says “I exercised a bunch and ate a bunch”. Honestly, this is all it takes for a young guy in his late teens to early 20′s to gain those 15-25 pounds. The hard part is getting them ripped. It is a good thing that because he is still young, he has a high metabolism. Anyone this age will have to alter their weight loss and muscle strategies as they grow older.
