The most difficult questions faced by individuals in a relationship is the tough question of “Am I really in love?” With the daily scuffle of life, sometimes it becomes challenging to feel love on a day-to-day basis and determine if you are really in love after all. Here are some easy questions to ask yourself that will help you decide whether it’s truly love or just infatuation or lonesomeness.
First, ask yourself how you feel when you are away from your lover. Do you feel uneasy, lonely, gloomy, upset? Do you wonder where he or she is and what they are doing? If you are facing any of those feelings, most likely you are not experiencing love. Love is peaceful, fulfilling, secure, and happy. You might be eager to spend time with your lover again, but it does not feel uncomfortable in anyway.
Second, how do you feel about your lover’s career, friends, and family? If you are truly in love, you will have to be ready to accept your lover’s family, friends, and career. If you feel extremely uneasy or tense or suspect about any of these things then you may definitely run into problems in the future. Your lover is a package deal and even though we sometimes may not care for a particular person in our lover’s life, when we are really in love, we know and accept that they will also be a part of our life and do so graciouslyand withoutdelay.
Third, ask yourself what you would do if your lover lost his job tomorrow? How would you feel about that? Would you be enraged and upset with them? Does their financial contribution make or break the relationship? Again, if you are really in love, you are kind and loyal when something goes awry in your lover’s life. Certainly, we all know that money is an important part of life.Nonetheless, it is not what constitutes love between two people. If you are truly in love, you will have faith that your lover has something better just around the corner and the two of you will work together on a financial plan until that next phase arrives in his or her life.
Fourth, do you trust your lover? This is a big question and one that is extremely important in determining the depth of one’s love for another. Real love knows that the person they are with is trustworthy, dependable, and respectful of their mates feelings. Real love also knows that similar values and morals are necessary in developing a long-term relationship.
Fifth, can you see yourself with this person when both of you are old, have lost your looks, are retired, and perhaps spending a great deal of time just sitting around the house together? This is truly a test of love. All the looks, dreams of the future, and good health, tend to wane as we progress in years. This would be a time of reminiscing and sharing the past instead of building the future. If you can’t picture this with your current partner, then perhaps this is not truly love.
